PRINT CASE STUDY 1 - HAYNES / GEADELMANN PICTURES
Haynes Geadelmann Pictures was a new company with several film projects in the works. The owner asked Logic House Media to design a complete graphical corporate identity package including logo, letterhead, business cards, envelopes, press kit, website, promotional pieces, specific film project identities, postcards, invitations, eCards, banners etc.. After reviewing the project dossier and communicating with the partners about their graphical preferences, we started creating logo mockups to incorporate the name of the company in the logo itself.
Since
the name "Haynes / Geadelmann Pictures" is quite lengthy,
we tried utilizing the "H" and the "G" to create
an icon-like graphic logo that would appeal to a wide viewer ship.
The result was a logo that met very important criteria in effective
logo creation: it is simple, it is easily identifiable, it can
be scaled to large and small sizes (it looks good printed on the
side of a fountain pen and on a billboard), it is effective
in one, two or multi-colored formats and most importantly for this
particular client, "it looks good on a hat".
After
finalizing the logo, the discussion moved to basic printed material
needs. In this particular case, the clients budget wasn't completely
restricted, so we decided to use silver foil stamping to give the
printed material an authoritative "expensive" look. The
result was a combination of business cards, letterhead and press
kit folders with the logo stamped in silver foil over black.
Their first film,
a feature documentary entitled "The Dance - The Billy
Roth Story" was scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest Film
Festival. To promote the movie we first developed a standard 4-color movie
poster (25" x
36") which helped summarize the core concepts of the movie graphically:
it is the
story
of a man who worked in the background to help rejuvenate prisoners in the
Louisiana prison boxing system. The film was a huge success in the independent
film circuit which led to a full feature film with Universal Pictures, starring
Nicolas Cage and 50 Cent (currently in production).
After the poster was finished, we used the graphical theme as an identity for all other promotional pieces and marketing materials. We created a full press kit, a 10' x 10' vinyl banner, 4-color invitation mail pieces, electronic PDF press kits, eCards and a full scale email invitation promotion to over 30,000 people.
We then embarked on the website development, once again incorporating the central them of the movie poster as the site's general look and feel. You can read more about this website by here http://www.hgpictures.com.
Haynes / Geadelmann Pictures is currently producing other projects such as "Kiss The Soldiers", a documentary and educational film about the liberation of Mauthausen, a Nazi German concentration camp during WWII.
